8 Beach Tips Your Family Needs This Summer

Summer is Here!

The beach is calling…but is it really worth the effort?! We think so, which is why we’ve gathered 8 of the hottest tips (see what we did there?) to make your beach outing a success. Go make some memories!

  1. PACK AHEAD

Pack your beach bag and cooler (and the car!) in advance so when it’s beach time you’re good to go. Here’s a handy dandy checklist to make sure you don’t forget any of the essentials:

    Multiple sunscreens

Zip-top bags to store sunscreen, wet bathing suits, etc.

    Beach hats, sunglasses, cover-ups

Change of clothes for the drive home (keep these in the car!)

    Swim diapers and wipes

    Baby Powder (see tip #8!)

    Sand toys

    Beach towels

    Pop-up tent or beach umbrella

Blanket, mat, or beach chairs for lounging

    Lunch and/or snacks

    Fresh and frozen water bottles

    A mini first-aid kit

2. DON’T FORGET PROTECTION

Apply sunscreen at home and then set a timer on your phone for reapplication reminders.

3. MAKE YOUR OWN SHADE

Have a shady spot you can easily retreat to when you need a break from the rays. A pop-up tent or beach umbrella is your best bet.

4. STAY HYDRATED

Drink plenty of water during and after your beach outing. Pro tip - throw a couple frozen water bottles into your cooler. They’ll double as icepacks but can also refill reusable bottles once they melt.

5. PLAN TO PLAY

Bring a few small toys, like a bucket and shovel. Kids don’t need much to keep them entertained at the beach! Dig holes, go tide-pooling, search for shells, and make sandcastles for beach day fun.

6. THINK SNACKS

Pack your lunch in individual bags so you won’t go totally hungry if sand makes its way into something. Easy snacks like pouches of applesauce and yogurt are perfect for the beach. Fruit like grapes and blueberries can be quickly rinsed if needed.

7. PREPARE TO POTTY

Scope out the bathroom situation so you can have a plan. Babies in swim diapers are easy! New potty trainer? Bring a travel potty!

8. SAY BYE BYE TO SAND

Leave the sand behind where it belongs. Apply some talc-free baby powder to sandy toes (and arms and legs and everywhere!) and watch as it easily brushes away, leaving you totally sand-free!

Enjoy!
